Garner Sports League and theTown of Garner, North Carolina provide recreational baseball and softball programs that offer boys (baseball) and girls (softball) a great opportunity to learn and love the game of baseball or softball. Recreation baseball offers an introductory, fun playing environment for players of all skill levels.

participants ages 3 – 14 for girls and 3 – 16 for boys; boys age determined by May 1st and for girls January 1st. Visit the corresponding age division page for more detailed age calculations and restrictions.

Spring Registration begins in January and the Spring Season begins the first weekend of April and ends in Mid-May, and could be extended into June for those that make an All-Star team. Year long registration options are available in the Spring for those players wanting to play in both the Spring and Fall seasons.

Fall Registration begins in July, and the Fall Season “Fall Ball”, begins mid-September and ends the first weekend of November, there is no post season for Fall Ball.

The program fee includes uniform, shirt, hat and cover team equipment, umpires, fields, and lights. Batting helmets, bats, socks, belts, and baseball pants are not included. Visit the corresponding age division page for more details around required equipment for your player’s age division.


There are two divisions, based on age and gender.

  • Recreational Baseball, ages 3 – 16
  • Fastpitch Softball, ages 3 – 14

An evaluation day is also held for the recreational programs (baseball and softball) to distribute talent throughout the recreational program to create as much balance as possible.

Garner Sports League follows Tar Heels League, Inc. for rules as posted on this website. Volunteer coaches are always needed and are required to pass a background check prior to interacting with the children.

Garner Sports League follows USA Baseball and USSSA Softball bat standards and a bat must carry the corresponding stamp. Tar Heels League, Inc. has adopted the USA Bat Standard for all baseball divisions.  For Coach Pitch (8U), Midget Division (10U), Little Division (12U) and Junior Division (15U), all bats must be USA Baseball approved and carry the USA Baseball Stamp or must be NFHS approved and carry the BBCOR stamp (High School) for use in Tar Heel Leagues.  Bats may not exceed 2 5/8” in diameter nor 36” inches in length. There is no rule regarding weight / length ratio.
